Our Boracay Escapade: A Summery Frill in Current by Astoria Boracay

Welcome to Boracay! Paradise on earth with its fine, white sand, beautiful coastlines, uplifting lifestyle scene, and of course, mesmerizing waters. This is truly one of, if not the best (but I doubt it), beaches in the world!

Soooo.. How’d I get here? Well, this is where we celebrated my mom’s *censored age*th birthday. Her little vacation, and ours as well. It was a worthwhile trip, and I promise to be back to see this majestic place again! We didn’t really plan on our expenses, so I can’t provide a detailed breakdown to show you, unlike other travelers. (Sorry!) But nonetheless, I can share with you all the things we did, and the places we’ve been to so you’d at least have an idea what to expect if you plan on visiting Boracay.

Getting There

Did you read the captions on the pics? IF NOT, go back. Teehee. The pumpboat ride from the port took like 20-25 minutes? I can’t remember haha. But it was a short ride. Then we had to take a tricycle going to the place we’re staying at. It reminded me a bit of Mendiola, just because it’s crowded, and it didn’t seem like Boracay at all. But when we reached our destination and thronged out of the eskinita, O M G. WHITE BEACH. It was PURE HEAVEN. No jokes or exaggeration!

We had to stay at a different hotel on our first day there, because we arrived a day earlier than planned. It was a nice place, albeit small. It provided us the thing we needed the most, which was obviouslyย somewhere to crash (after all the gala). I wish I could tell you about that place, but I forgot the name!! And I wasn’t able to take pictures of that mini apartelle.

Just Arrived

We took a happy stroll and welcomed Boracay’s jaw-dropping beauty.

Then we went to Current to settle our check-in for the next day. Here’s when I got a sneak peek of their cooool amenities. Huhu it’s so pretty!!!! 10/10 would recommend to any Boracay tourist/visitor!

Before I focus on Current by Astoria Boracay, fast forward to the activities we sort of did (and I suggest you do as well).  I’ll just put some bullets for you.

  • Take a stroll anytime. Whether it’s AM or PM, the place is really alive. Daytime: you can take beautiful pictures (or videos) anywhere. You can sit by the beach, relax in the lounge chairs, chill inside the restaurant, pose beside the famous BORACAY sand castles etc. Nighttime: there’s a lot to see when you don’t get to swim! And it’s fab. The stars, the moon, several fire dances hosted by most bars/shops, kids playing with their light thingies, and even the police patrol looks oddly amusing. While the beachfront is to die for, take some time to head to the “city” part of the place (away from the beachfront). It’s also home to interesting shops, restaurants & hangout spots. Ask a friendly local, they’ll be happy to help.
  • Shop and dine. We were in Station 3 of Boracay, and it’s the part that’s just the right mix of quiet and fun. There are lots of restaurants, obviously. Buffets, fast food, mini stores, it’s all there. If you’re in the mood for shopping, you can also find boutiques for that. Head over to Station 2.
  • Try the Wave Rider. Okay, so we didn’t actually do this, but we visited this place and it looks really cool! Ask anyone where Crown Regency is. It’s walking distance from the beachfront. Also, this hotel is home to an indoor aquarium (that can be strategically viewed from their restaurant).
  • Watch the dancing chefs. I didn’t know this was a thing in Boracay until my dad pointed it out. Literally, there’d be chefs dancing outside (for all of us to watch), infront of Seabreeze Cafe. It’s amusing, to say the least. And an interesting USP for the restaurant.

  • Try the sea activities. There are tons of water activities available here. Fly Fish Ride, Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Marine Walk, Mermaiding, Stand Up Paddle Board, Parawsailing, Parasailing, and Cliffdiving. We only got to try the stand up paddle board because *budget on food* haha, but I wish to try the other activities when I come back. No regrets… I enjoyed it! The guide had to really supervise me because I was paddling away and far from the shallow part of the waters. LOL. Cue music: I am Moanaaaaaa~
  • Brave the G-Max Extreme Reverse Bungy. This is the kind of ride that throws you right up the sky, like being in a slingshot. For the adventurous of hearts and thrill junkies, try this! (It’s P1,500 per person). We didn’t try this but I had a lot of fun watching the recorded videos of those who rode the bungy. There’s a TV in the entrance part of the ride so people can watch the funny reactions!

  • Swim, swim, swim. The waters are as fresh as you can imagine it to be! Super cool and clean huhu. We had a lot of fun swimming in it and a lot of people did too. After swimming, you wouldn’t feel itchy (compared to other regular beaches). Ahhhhh โค

Now that I’ve shared a couple of activities, let me share this time what it’s like to stay in Current by Astoria Boracay. We stayed at that place because years back, we (actually it’s just my father) availed the Membership thingy, a.k.a. Astoria Vacation and Leisure Club Inc, (AVLCI). I think the timeshare would go on for 30 years (we’re just on our 5th) and I really must say, it’s very worth it! So anyway!!

I think that if you’re going solo, as couples, or together with the fambam, you’d really enjoy staying here. Don’t be fooled by its small frontage. Once you enter the hotel, it’s big and bright and everything summery nice!

Here’s when we went down and decided to lounge in the night bar. There was a nice performance that time.

Sorry if I wasn’t able to give justice to the beauty of that place huhu. Swear, everything looks 10x prettier in real life!

By the way, this is the 2nd Astoria in Boracay, and it’s much modern and cool compared to the other one (although that one’s nice too). You can do lots of things, take lots of quirky photos, lounge around, chill, swim in the Infinity pool just across their restaurant and sooo much more! The only thing that needed improvement (in my opinion) was the Wifi. It was really weak. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ And I had to go out of my room just to send a chat to my boyfriend via Messenger. (LOL) I don’t know if it’s because of the room location, but anyways, that’s that.

Well… this is pretty much the end of this blog. Hope you enjoy Boracay!! โค
