Is what you’re drinking fresh? This purified water is sourced straight from the majestic peaks of Mt. Banahaw.
Last Monday, April 16, Philippine Bottling Beverage or PBB, kicked off a media launch for their newest product, Banahaw Spring purified water, at the Manila House Private Club, Bonifacio Global City.
The venue was set up nicely. A great work was put into making sure that the place could rekindle your connection to nature. The ceiling was filled with hanging leaf decorations, there were plants everywhere, and there were also a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables (whole table of it) that we all eventually brought home.

First things first. What do I think & know about the product itself? Well, thanks to Banahaw Spring’s Product Development Manager, Thor Jourdan Mutuc, Brand Manager Joan Decena, and PBB’s Resident Chemist Jimber Loyola, I gained some insights.
BANAHAW SPRING Purified Water
- It’s created by bottling company Philippine Bottling Beverage or PBB, after 3 years of research & testing. PBB is a 100% Filipino-owned company whose business involves manufacturing, private labeling and tolling, as well as marketing, warehousing and delivery of bottled products
- It is the only bottled water manufactured in the Philippines that is named after its source (Mt. Banahaw -> Banahaw Spring)
- Drinking the water gives you the “beauty of the greens, freshness of plants, and feeling of being close to nature.” You can say that this is a product that’s literally made by nature, being harnessed from sustainable natural sources & all that
- Every single drop of water comes from the source. In fact, they have a state of the art facility set up right at the foot of Mt. Banahaw, San Pablo City. The facility is at par with world standards, as it is fully automated and requires minimal human intervention (meaning, preserved natural qualities of water)
- The water bottles used are also nature friendly because a) it uses less plastic than the average bottle, b) less plastic means reduced carbon emission, c) bottles are Bisphenol A, or BPA free, d) it’s equipped with Grip Technology which generally makes it easier for someone to hold the bottle as it follows the curves of your hand, and finally e) it’s made with recyclable materials
- Banahaw Spring is available in 3 SKUs: 350ml, 500ml, and 1L

SCIENCEY PEOPLE FUN FACT: Purified water is safer than mineral water, and much better than a distilled water.
This I learned from PBB’s Resident Chemist Jimber Loyola.
Apparently, purified water is like the best option out there because it undergoes several filtration processes, including an Ultraviolet purification that kills all the bacteria and microbes. Plus, when combined with their special bottle, there’s a less chance your water becomes harmful when exposed to direct or indirect heat.

SPORTY PEOPLE FUN FACT: You have to be choosy with the nutrients you put in your body.
The words of Julian Valencia (Triathlon Coach)
Everyone knows that hydration plays a big part in every aspect of life, I guess all the more for those doing endurance sports, right? These sporty guys don’t really suggest sports drinks for achieving that optimum level of performance in what they do. In fact, these drinks contain sugar, and tastes really bad after some time. You have to be careful and frankly, choosy, with what you drink. And the simplest, and most powerful is WATER. Go figure!
So much about that. Now what about the event???

The second to the last part of the event (dinner for finale) was my favorite part! The fruit challenge!! We can get anything we like from the “fresh produce” section and put it in our bayongs. It’s timed for 10 seconds, but it’s already a great deal!

I guess I had my luck that night cause I also won in the raffle (along with 10 more people). I brought home a handy bag from Ralph Lauren plus a couple more Banahaw Spring mineral bottles.

Banahaw Spring will be rolling out more marketing activities and promotions so you better watch out for it! Try to #drinkbanahawspring and tell me what you think! ๐
That’s it for today.
