Korean eats, and K-pop, rolled into one happy place.
There is a term we call “Hallyu,” which translates to “flow of Korea,” and means the increase in the global popularity of the South Korean culture.
Philippines is one of the many countries who’s soooo into this flow. As their Asian neighbor, they didn’t fail to cast a spell, and affect us with a heavy influence when it comes to drama, cosmetics, food, and even music (K-Pop is inarguably the most popular k-wave to hit us).
People nowadays are all over Korean stuff, food parks, and food trips. So…
WHY NOT TRY THIS PLACE?
This restaurant in Kapitolyo will give you the best of both worlds. It gave me a – came for the K-pop, stayed for the K-eats – kinda reaction. Yeongyang Hansik stands out at Madison Commons Food Park (behind Pioneer Centre and Ace Hotel), not just because it’s standalone from all the other stalls inside the food park, but because the place + food are outstanding.
Seriously, if you’re in Kapitolyo, you need to recheck your “where to eat” list and put this in the Top 3.

Simple tents are placed outside, where you can chill with your buddies and just enjoy the moment.

I don’t know about you, but Yeongyang Hansik gives me a major Zen garden feels. (P.S. This area is best at night according to their General Manager, Richard Yu. Agree to that.)

And of course, if you opt to eat inside, that’s okay too. The room upstairs is air-conditioned, and shows you all their gimmicks, such as the Wall of Fame (pose disguised as your fave K-star), & K-Fest (their scheduled K-nights where you can learn how to make kimchi, watch dramas/movies, and see K-pop cover groups perform).

Now, let’s talk about food (because that’s what I came here for, lol)
Some of the food we tasted:
I’m not big on the Kimchi, but I still enjoyed it! Here’s their Tteokbokki w/ Cheese, together with some selected side dish! Kimchi, Braised Baby Potato & Fish Cake. Yumm.

Forget Bon Chon, this Crispy Korean Fried Chicken is a scene-stealer, and is served in bite-sized goodness! The flavor has a certain spicy kick (not too much), that lets you savor the sweetness right after.

Korean Hotpot, why not? They serve it fresh.

Now, the twist to the usual Samgyeopsal (Grilled Pork Belly)!! They have 7 different flavors ❤ We have from upper L-R: Classic, Curry, Soy Garlic, Sweet & Spicy and lower L-R: Teriyaki, Honey Glazed, Herbs.
I highly recommend these 3 flavors: CLASSIC (if you prefer the original taste), SWEET & SPICY (their best seller, without doubt), and HERBS (you can literally taste the herbs, haha). I’m sorry, not so good at describing flavors

This is probably one that I like so much… but I can’t eat it straight up. It’s toooo hot (for me, at least) and I had to sip from my cooler every time I take a bite out of this spicy grilled chicken dish. I think I tried to combat the spiciness with the cheese, but that didn’t really turn out well. :p

Fish cake/Eomuk!

All their meals are best paired with SOJU or CUCU-MORINGA (cucumber-moringa) COOLER (they also have other flavors for the coolers like raspberry lychee, and mango orance, but cucu-moringa’s the best, imo).
General (Honest) Opinion
- If you’re into K-Pop, K-dramas, and Korean food, this is a good place to be. All the Koreans at heart would like this place. In fact, they often cater to PH Kpop fandoms’ gatherings and events.
- I like the outdoor seats much better.
- The place is more alive at night. I guess with our country’s intense heat, no one would dare to eat hot and spicy dishes at the hottest time of the day??? (See what I did there, 2PM fans?)
- Korean gourmet is usually expensive. Yeongyang Hansik’s price is reasonable enough (though some dishes are, well, expensive). If you’re a little tight on the budget, stick to what you want (they have large servings, anyway). But if you are just about to enjoy your payday, then be adventurous and go try their other meals! Zomato estimates the average cost at P600 for two people already.
- A bit of a disclaimer. My visit to this place is originally for a feature, but that doesn’t mean I’m exaggerating when I say I like it. I only post what I genuinely like here in my personal blog. 🙂
Insider Tip
They have an EAT-ALL-YOU-CAN secret menu for only P499!! And if you’re wondering what that’s inclusive of… let me just say it’s totally worth it! (Sorry, not allowed to dish on the dishes! Lolz). You may just tell their staff (or the Resident Oppa if he’s there) that you would like to order the Secret Menu. You’d honestly be surprised in a good way.
P.S. ALL PHOTOS IN THIS POST belong to Karl Batunbacal and Kitkat Tan. I don’t take any credit, because I can’t really take awesome shots like them. Haha.
Visiting this store soon? Let me know what you think!
