Now all that’s left for me to do is come back during race day! (manifesting haha)
Fans who are closely following the F1 action are already anticipating one heck of a fight for when drivers come to race under the lights around Marina Bay Street Circuit. After all, it’s a tough event.
Well, Singapore is already revving up for the big day and can I just say that we’re lucky to stick to a decision that wasn’t even an option in the first place??? Ok, storytime!
Some itinerary changes led us to this track

My friend and I originally planned to make our way through Rail Corridor — a beautiful, green stretch that is perfect for nature lovers. It offers nostalgia and history, especially when you pass by the former railway line that used to route trains from Singpare to Kuala Lumpur for almost a century. It’s really interesting buuuttt we were still tired after a night of celebration and drinking so we opted for a more relaxed activity.
We had the impression that going on a city loop is less tiring vs. hitting the trails so the idea of cycling around the Marina Bay area came to mind. We both haven’t explored the spot anyway so it’s perfect! 🙂

We ended up renting a mountain bike from GoCycling and I was honestly not prepared for what was to come! My mind was just set on checking out the showpiece of horticulture that is Gardens by the Bay, but I didn’t know we were that close to the street circuit.

From the Singapore Flyer area, we made an unplanned turn to the track right outside the pit building! Consider me thrilled!!! I’m still a baby F1 fan, and everything about this sport just excites me. I’m not sure when I can return to watch race day, but someday haha.
Anywayyyy, it’s technically still offseason and we had the most wonderful time pretending to box in the pit lane.

This place is free and open to visitors, but cars are not allowed. Look at us fangirling over Red Bull and Ferrari!!

You can either walk on foot, or ride around and explore the short part of the track.

We probably spent 30 minutes here before finally going about our original route. 🙂
You’ll have a wonderful time touring not just the street circuit but also the cycling path

I highly suggest adding GoCycling to your Singapore itinerary! You can easily rent and return at any outlet, and it’s just a smooth and easy process. PLUS, the cycling paths are really nice.
All you need to do is to inform the staff during registration about your preferred hourly rental, then they will collect $50 as cash deposit. Rate starts at $10 per hour for adults, and there’s also the option to rent a tandem bike for $20 per hour.
Disclaimer: We miscalculated our end time so it’s also good to consider their ongoing promotions. That way, it’s really a bang for your buck. If I’m not mistaken, you can get a free hour, if say, you avail the 2-hour rental.
Getting there

We just took the train from Little India and alighted Promenade Station. From there, it was a good 10-minute walk or so to GoCycling @ MarinaBay. If you see the photos above, then you’re on the right track.
