GIFT IDEA: DIY Bridal Box

Personalized gifts can always tug a newlywed’s heart; not as much as brand new furniture does, but hey… it’s still something!

I have a friend who’s getting married next, next week, and I’ve been thinking hard what to give her. FYI, I’m not yet at that stage in life where I can easily buy furniture as a gift, so I opted for a DIY box with small gifts in it. Of course, I wasn’t going to give her this.

The gift needed to be something a little more special!

Simple steps for the Bridal Box:

  1. Pick a cute box. Buy.
  2. Pick a matching ribbon. Buy.
  3. Pick something to design the inside of the box with. Buy.
  4. Pick the gift/s. Buy.
  5. DIY away.

So first, the box! I bought a low, rectangle box which I think would be enough for my gifts. This is the best I could find in this size. Apparently, this is the only design. /pouts

I originally wanted to ribbon-wrap the box in a normal manner. But then, I also find it too common. Like I wanted it to be a little different? Hmm. I chose a plain white ribbon with mesh gaps. Only got 3 meters of it.

Then I also got some crepe paper. This will serve as the kalat design inside the box. I was choosing between cotton and crepe paper and I think this is the better candidate??? Cross fingers! It’s also white!

I probably wouldn’t need 3 packs but just in case…

Yellow scented potpourri!! This may be useful.

I couldn’t find any other designs I can use for the box. I was going for the white-brown-gold theme for it to look pure, nature-y and very minimalist?? Or at least I’m trying. Most designs were pretty colorful and I wouldn’t want that.

The next thing I did was to find the perfect gift…. I originally thought of Sunnies. Okay, don’t judge! The two loves traveling together, just being the nature loving couple that they are… Hiking, Camping, and all that. It makes sense now, right? I also thought of a rice cooker, but I’m not sure if they’re going to live together right away.

I was just strolling around when I saw this from a random display in the middle of the aisle. I thought, hey, why not? They can drink their morning coffee with this mug! No matter where they are, they can use their own cup to feel like they’re together with their better half! (I’m trying to justify my reason for buying this aside, from the cup sign that says BRIDE and GROOM)

Not completely satisfied, I also got this cute golden Tealight candles!

I’m done with the shopping! Now racing back to the house to let the idea come together…

Keeping everything inside the box just so I don’t lose any of it.

Cut the crepe paper into thin strips just so it looks fancy and artsy. Lol.

More of these.

Glued the ribbon horizontally on the top of the box. I only used one meter. Then I recycled the yellow ribbon (which was wrapped onto the potpourri box) and just added it in for effect. As for the dried plant material, I pretty much placed it in the middle, and scattered some on the side for a /wind-blown/ effect?? Tbh, I’m not sure if that looks okay, but I won’t take it down cos GLUE GUN!!

Lose the box. Just place your gifts naturally in this crepe-paper and potpourri-stuffed box.

Simple but okay..?

If you open it, you can clearly see that there are 2 mugs and gold candles. Lol.

That’s about it! It’s pretty simple and easy to make!! Let your creative juices flow. You don’t even have to follow my steps at all. Just do what you think looks good and is perfect for your friend. In the end, it’s all about the thought and heart you put into the preparation.
