This Immersive Exhibit of Art Genius Vincent Van Gogh Lets You Live In His Universe

Imagine stepping into a Universe filled with Vincent Van Gogh’s masterpieces.

That’s exactly what the people behind this exhibit set out to do – offer a new way for people to see his work through a 360-degree multisensory experience. It combines the best of both worlds, with both art and technology immersing you fully in the artist’s Universe while you lounge around. Yes, lounge around.

Vincent Van Gogh is an incredibly famous artist. His paintings have earned the hearts of art lovers around the world, albeit not being able to enjoy the same level of appreciation in his lifetime. He was someone extraordinary, but his genius was also married to regrettable darkness, and he frequented episodes of depression, and anxiety.

At age 27, Vincent turned to the companionship of a brush and a canvas, saying “The only time I feel alive is when I’m painting.” From that moment on, his life as a talented artist started, and created paintings that included still lifes, portraits, and landscapes characterized by dramatic and bold colors. Little did he know, he would change the art world forever.

Immerse yourself in a masterfully executed art experience

The Van Gogh: The Immersive Exhibit reveals the artist’s life in great detail, but not in the normal way you’d expect. Here, visitors will literally step into an amazing and immersive world where his paintings are given life through cutting-edge technology. I’m talking about breathtaking floor-to-ceiling projections!

Honestly, I felt more comfortable here compared to a regular museum because it’s not so strict – in the sense that there’s a looser atmosphere, and you don’t have watchful guards ready to call you out if you get too close to the art.

You have the option to walk around if you feel like doing so, or utilize the bean bags, sofas, and lounge chairs in the space. Sit or lie down as you watch the incredible moving art. It’s your choice. There’s no bad view here.

I was already amazed the second I drew open the curtains to the exhibit. It was just too mesmerizing! I’ll let the photos do the talking!

The immersive world of wonder isn’t all there is!

There are sections and rooms where you can learn about Vincent Van Gogh’s history and impressive works.

Make sure to check out the framed samples of the artist’s work before heading to the main exhibition floor.

My friends and I went to see Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience during our trip to Singapore last August. It was supposed to end come October 1st, but they extended its run until October 15th. If you want to experience walking under the starry night, you still have a chance!

How to get there

The exhibit location is The Forum Level B1 – Resorts World Sentosa – 8 Sentosa Gateway.

One thing I like about Singapore is that their public transportation is super easy and convenient (someone adopt me already, please!). I’ve gathered 3 ways to go to the museum.

1. You can take the MRT and head towards Harbourfront Station. Once you reach the place, enter VivoCity mall and go to the third level. There’s a skytrain that will take you directly to Resorts World Sentosa!

2. If you don’t feel like taking the speedy skytrain, you can always opt for the MRT and bus! From Harbourfront Station, the bus ride (RWS8 shuttle bus) will take approximately 20 minutes, and will also drop you directly at Resorts World Sentosa!

3. I wasn’t aware of this last option until now, but apparently, you can also take a cable car to Resorts World Sentosa. This is costly, but if you have the budget to spare, then maybe it’s worth it. The starting point is still Harbourfront Station, but you just need to transfer to the Singapore Cable Car Station.

Take the cable car with the Mount Faber – Harbourfront – Sentosa Island route. Once you’re inside the cable car, you’ll be treated to beautiful views of the sea and forests!

Aside from the snaps, here’s the experience as captured in videos 😉

The exhibit won the Gold Medal for Best Exhibition Experience and Best Immersive Experience at the prestigious Eventex 2023 Awards. CNN also ranked this as one of the 12 Best Immersive Experiences in the World.

Honestly, I’m just happy to visit the place and appreciate the art of such a talented artist.
